What Is The Best Way To Transfer A Movie Off A Camcorder To A Pc?
We are making a movie for a festival, and we are tring to get a device that is easy to use to transfer movies off a camcorder to a PC. Thanks.

MiniDV cams have the firewire port built in. If your PC has a card with firewire ports then all you need is a firewire male to male cable between the cam and your PC.
To capture the DV video to say a MPG, AVI, MPEG2,4, etc, you need a capturing software. There are many out there like Adobe Premiere, etc.

If your camera is digital then you can take the stored memory from it and upload it tyou your computer using a usb cord, make sure your camcorder has a port for one. Your computer should have one. It usually is in the back. Hook em up and you should see a message appear saying a new hardware has been detected.

Unless you have an ancient PC, your camcorder is designed to connect to it directly. Either via Firewire or USB2.
Try reading the manual, there is a wealth of information in it.
You can use a Dazzle, but that kind of defeats the point of having a nice digital camcorder. It will degrade the picture quality.
Buy a Pinnacle Firewire Kit. It comes with everything you need in 1 box including the award winning Studio software. Simple, easy and cheap.
I don’t have dazzle, but I know of people who have had it. Not only is it easy to transfer video, but there are simple programs that come ont he cd that make the video transfer experiance more rewarding.
