Dvc Digital Camcorder, Which 1 Should You Buy?
Dvc Digital Camcorders are awesome because you can record special events and replay them anytime you want. Viewing them after the special occassion, brings back the joy and happiness back. This is why its important to store the footage on a format which is easily accessible and you feel comfortable with.
When deciding to purchase a digital camcorder, the main decision is choosing which format you want. Each format is quite different so you should consider the positives and negatives of each one. The range of formats can range from dvd discs, minidvs, flash based recording, and hardrive storage.
DVD Disc Storage Format
If you do not want any complex operation after recording footages and would want to store that video on a DVD disc right away, then you might want to consider a digital camcorder that has DVD disc storage. This type of camcorder format allows you to record the storage directly to the DVD disc and gives you the ability to immediately insert the disc into a DVD player for immediate playback. This type of format, however, has several drawbacks like image quality, length of recording time, and the risk of physical scratches which may render the disk unusable.
MiniDV Storage Format
The most popular storage format is MiniDV. Its great and records high quality footage for viewing and also editing. It can also record long durations of video, with up to 60-90 minutes of footage. The minidv format can be recorded over and over again, so it makes it cost efficient. It also doesn’t lose quality no matter how many times you re-record. Also minidvs tapes are quite cheap, because they have been on the market for quite a while. You can transfer the footage to your computer for editing or putting on youtube, via a firewire cable which is quite simple to setup. If your computer doesn’t have a firewire cable, then i suggest purchasing another format.
Hard Disk Drive
This format is basically the same as avi video files you play on your computer. Its quite easy to manage and transfer hard drive footage to your computer via a USB cable. The larger the hard drive size the more fooage you can record at once. Normally the come in 100GB plus worth of recordings. The are great for newbies, who want a camcorder which is simple to manage. The flash based format, allows you to insert flash discs which each of there individual size. The larger the size on the flash disc, the more you can obviously record.
Hard-drive recorders are the most user friendly out of all the formats. They are great for newbies who just want something basic and simple. However i advise and recommend to investigate for yourself before making a decision.
