I own a Canon VIXIA HFS100. The BP-819 will run for almost a continuous three hours. Some people have complained about the battery sticking too far out the back of the camcorder. Granted, the tiny stock battery does not protrude at all, but the BP-819 only sticks out a tiny bit.

My camcorder shipped with a BP-807 battery. I previously bought the BP-809 battery expecting it to be a larger, higher capacity battery than the BP-807. One would think larger model number = larger battery. Not so. The 809 is actually a smaller battery than the 807. Who thought up this numbering scheme?!? I retuned the BP-809 and ordered the BP-819.

My BP-819, which works great and most day in Disney lasted the whole day. With original battery being my backup. One thing I could not find on the net was the sizes of the Canon batteries. And the paperwork that came with my Canon BP-819 gives all of the follow dimensions

BP-808 1.2x0.9x1.6in (30.7x23.3x40.2mm) 1.6oz (46g) 890mAh
BP-809 1.2x1.1x1.6in (30.7x27.5x40.2mm) 1.7oz (47g) 890mAh
BP-819 1.2x1.6x1.6in (30.7x39.4x40.2mm) 3.0oz (85g) 1780mAh
BP-827 1.2x2.2x1.6in (30.7x55.7x40.2mm) 4.3oz (121g) 2670mAh

So, from this it should help determine how far the battery will stick out from the back of your camera. And how much additional weight and battery life you will get with each.

Bought this as the main battery for our HF 200. It works very well and is not much larger than the one that comes with the camcorder. Kinda pricey, but works really well
An abolsute must for the Canon HF series cameras

This battery is an absolute necessity for your Canon HF series camcorders if you want to film over one hour of footage on a single charge. Yes it is expensive, but it does do its job perfectly. Don't bother with the aftermarket batteries out there.
More battery life than one could possibly wish for from spare battery

I used it recently (along with a 32GB Sandisk SD card) and was able to capture over an hour's worth of my son's baptism. After the event, there was still plenty of battery life left. It would have gotten a 5-star review if it weren't too bulky for my HF200 camera. It sticks out the back and makes it less than ideal to use the record button on the rear right of the camera.

How/where Do You Store A Sony Camcorder Info Lithium Battery? Should It Be Fully Charged Or Not?

I have a Sony Camcorder and wish to preserve the battery for as long as possible. Should I let it completely run down before storing it, or store it fully charged? And should I simply place it in a dark place, not attached to the camera?
