I Have A Sony Camcorder And Adobe Premier. Does Anyone Know How To Get The Footage To The Computer?

It is a digital handycam, but when I connect it up with my usb cable it does nothing. (I can download still picture from it to the computer but it will not do the footage from tape) Grandmother is gone now and this footage is important to save for our family. I need to place it on a DVD for the younger family members.

The video is transfered using a firewire cable. You will need a firewire card on your computer and a cable. It’s also called a 1394 connection.

Open premier and find wherever it says import video. Make sure your camcorder is connected and locate the device. It should work.

Within Adobe Priemer, you have to digitize the video. To do this you need to Capture the video by doing this:
    File
    Capture
    Movie Capture
A window will open, you should see your input image. Press play on you camcorder, then press record on the window to capture.
    It’s that easy.
Are you using a firewire connection or a component input via a video card? either way it should work. I’ve never done a usb input.
